Revolving Sushi

Kaiten Zushi restaurants have plates of sushi on a revolving belt that slowly rotates prepared sushi. You can watch the sushi chefs as they deftly slice and press the sushi together, and then throw their creations on the belt. You can reach up and grab whatever you like, keeping an eye on the plate color (indicating price). Then, when you leave, the waitress can easily tally up your bill by looking at the plates. You sit around a communal counter, elbow to elbow with strangers, and grab your own chopsticks and pickled ginger from a wooden box in front of you.

There is also usually a hot water tap that dispenses water for green tea, so you can drink as much tea as you like while chomping on the delicious sushi. If you want something specific that isn't on the belt, you can order it and they will make it for you. I actually found a sushi place in Chiba that will make a roll with avocado in it (among other things)- but such things are quite difficult to find. Anyway, this sushi place was advertised as a 99 yen sushi place- every plate was only 99 yen!
